Vehicular accidents are a pretty common occurrence. With people getting easily distracted by different things, it almost becomes inevitable.
That is what happened to netizen Marc Coz as he was driving along Lacson.
He shared his encounter with fellow driver after he accidentally hit his car in a long and detailed Facebook post. According to him, he was deep in thought and worrying about his thesis when the incident happened.
Although the damage was not that bad due to the minimal impact brought about by his slow driving speed, it still left a few dents and scratches on the other car's bumper.
What happened next shocked Coz. Contrary to the typical reaction of most drivers when facing a similar situation, the other driver reacted calmly.
Coz admitted that he was expecting an outburst due to the inconvenience he caused. Surprisingly, the driver Coz hit, who was identified as Lemuel M., simply asked him if he fell asleep.
After explaining what really happened, Lemuel attempted to call the cops but no one answered so he went away and bought cigarettes to relieve him of the stress.
Since the cops were not responding and no traffic enforcers were at the scene, the two drivers decided to settle the situation amongst themselves.
Coz offered PHP 3,000 as payment for the damages, since that was all the money he had in his ATM. To his surprise yet again, Lemuel refused the offer, saying it was too much.
Lemuel said PHP 500 would be enough and even explained how he would repair the damage to his car.
Coz expressed his admiration for the compassionate Lemuel showed him and for not taking advantage of his momentary lapse in focus.
"Nakakatuwang malamang may mga tao parin na tulad ni kuyang hindi nanamantala kahit na siya pa naperwisyo mo. Saka napakachill lang kahit na ganun na ang mga ganap. Thank you kuya Lemuel M." Coz wrote
The story has so far garnered 52,000 reactions and 5,500 shares. Netizens praised Lemuel for how well he handled the situation.
