Maxine Medina is now in the middle of controversy after she mistakenly mentioned that former First Lady Imelda Marcos invented the "terno" which she used as our national costume.
Just last week, Iza Calzado was also put into the fires of controversy, after she made Imelda Marcos a fashion icon.
Well, the Filipinos are really hypersensitive when it comes to the Marcoses, especially the widow of the late dictator.
Maxine Medina already apologized over the fiasco. She admitted that she was really nervous and she meant "popularized" and not "invented".
The first lady has become known for her glamorous and flamboyant terno dresses.
"Sorry for that word... Mali lang 'yung word na nagamit ko," Medina admitted.
"Wag niyo naman sana seryosohin. I did really research it. I read a lot about it," she added.
To her rescue is Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach who believes that Maxine Medina did not mean to offend the public.
"Hindi naman niya sasadyain 'yun kung alam niya. Sa tingin ko she just honestly did not know," Wurtzbach said.
She encouraged the public to encourage her instead of bashing here.
"Let's just uplift her instead of putting her down," she added.
A lot of beauty pageants' enthusiasts have already been worried and concerned about Maxine's speaking skills.
What do you think of Maxine's performance so far?
